California Pizza Kitchen - AB T6H 3P1: Fresh, Flavorful Dining at Edmonton’s Southgate Mall

We recently visited for dinner and had a wonderful experience! We ordered the Classic BBQ Chicken Pizza and the full-size Waldorf Chicken Salad. It was clear that both dishes were made with fresh ingredients and well crafted. For dessert, we tried the Butter Cake - one order was perfect for two guests to share! Will definitely be visiting California Pizza Kitchen again.

Visited the new CPK in Southgate Mall and sampled a bit of everything: burger, pizza, pasta, chicken salad, and a cocktail. The quality was consistently solid across the board — the burger was cooked to a perfect medium, the pizza crust had that ideal chew, and the pasta was surprisingly flavorful. Chicken salad was fresh and balanced, and the cocktail was smooth and not overly sweet. Service was quick, and the team seemed well-trained for a new opening. Worth checking out!

I stopped by California Pizza Kitchen at Southgate Mall recently, and it reminded me why this place has stayed relevant for decades. Most people know CPK for the BBQ Chicken Pizza, and yes, it still holds up. It is sweet, smoky, a little tangy, and honestly just comforting in a way that feels familiar but not boring. What surprised me again, though, is how much of the menu goes beyond pizza. You can easily come here and not order a pizza at all and still have a solid meal. The salads actually feel intentional, not like filler items. The pastas are balanced and not overly heavy. Even the main plates feel like they were designed with the same creativity that made CPK famous in the first place. There is a clear California influence throughout the menu, lighter flavours, fresher ingredients, and combinations that do not feel rushed or careless. It is also a great spot if you are timing things around deals. Their happy hours run from 2:00 to 5:00 PM and again from 8:00 PM until close, which makes it an easy option for a late lunch, casual dinner, or evening hangout. Overall, California Pizza Kitchen feels dependable in a good way. It is the kind of place you can go with friends, family, or even solo and know you will leave satisfied.

So happy to have another CPK in the city. We came in during their LA afternoon (first happy hour from 2pm to 5pm) and managed to try a few of their popular pizza flavours as a pizetta. The food tasted amazing and came out pretty quickly after ordering. Our server, Hannah Y, was very friendly, attentive and also ontop of the drink refills! Appreciate her recommending the butter cake, it really is as good as the menu says Unfortunately there isn't direct access from Southgate mall, but theres ample parking and it's only a few steps away from the RBC entrance in the mall. Highly recommend checking them out, especially since they even have a second happy hour called Golden Hour from 8pm to close!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Had a great experience at the California Pizza Kitchen in Southgate Mall. Our server, Daphne, took excellent care of us—super attentive and our drinks were never empty. Faisal, the manager, was also amazing and made us feel genuinely welcome with his warm hospitality. The restaurant itself is very upscale, aesthetic, clean, and cozy. The food was fresh, beautifully presented, and tasted great. Overall, a wonderful experience—I would definitely come back and highly recommend this location.

First time visiting, a great experience! - Harry, the manager was so authentic and genuine. I would come back to this location, just for him. He runs a great team and service. Service was amazing! Especially the male host at the door; arranging seating, who was working 7:30PM Dec 15 2025. He was very kind. Love this locations team. Would highly recommend!

The food and drink are to die for, and the staff are so charming. During my entire time here, I marvelled at the restaurant's interior. It creates a cozy atmosphere that makes you want to stay long after golden hour. I have a feeling CPK will soon become a dine-out staple for Edmontonians.

Amazing dining experience. The atmosphere was very upscale, classy, yet trendy. The food was perfectly cooked and garnished, flavours contrasted beautifully. The service was above and beyond, as management provided a tour for me and my friend, checked in on us multiple times, and water was always full! Christian was our server, and provided great recommendations and friendly conversation making the experience even better. Highly recommend the BBQ Chicken pizza. Lots of flavour, with little mess! Great for a fancier dinner out with friends & colleagues!
